WORDS ABOUT "SWEET SOUL MUSIC"
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
"Brother Konty, I got your CD today and just completed listening to it. Man, i love that JK soulful sound, your singing and especially the guitar. The fact that you came from the church fascinates me. I love gospel music too. I have never received a CD packaged quite like yours, very unique and professional with the roaring 20's look of you and your wife. I love your use of the triangle, tambourine and timbales.
Thanks for the Blessing,"

((J GUITAR KONTY: SWEET SOUL MUSIC ALBUM RELEASE 2011))
J Guitar Konty has a new album out from Konty Enterprises Inc. What started out as exclusive singles for Konty's friends and fans turned into a full length album when J Guitar realized how much material he had written for a compilation project set to be released by his manager Doug Brown, GOE. Ent. Orlando, FL. J Guitar did not want any song to go to waste and so put together what he is calling "his first album" for all his fans, friends, supporters and family who have lifted him up and helped get him to where he is today. "Sweet Soul Music," really brings home the message of J Guitar Konty, his playing, writing and ideals, which is Love, just straight Love. He pin pointed the artists who have always been in his thoughts. They lift him up when played. They are Marvin Gaye, Prince, Curtis Mayfield, The Isley Brothers, Babyface, Boyz II Men and Johnny "Guitar" Watson. And, let us not forget the Funk Brothers of the Motown mega machine. He also contributes his music heroes in the NW such as Norman Sylvester and Dub DeBrie, Carlton Jackson, Myrtle Brown and Frank Gruner to name some.
The latest album titled by his wife "Sweet Soul Music" was written, arranged, produced & recorded by Konty while he was in Orlando, LA and at home in Tualatin, OR. Ryan Foster of Portland, OR did all the mastering. Joseph did all the guitar work, bass, keys, programming, percussion, BGV's and asked mega talent Myrtle Brown to join him on three tracks. "Lift Me Up," being a song that features Myrtle Brown. "I have always been a fan of Myrtle Brown, she captivates me with her talent and spirit," - J Guitar.
J Guitar also added a live track of his song, "You Are Everything," from his performance for the Dub DeBrie Live Or Die Concert at the Roseland Theater, Portland, OR in 2010. "I have a huge admiration for Dub DeBrie. He is the definition of being a songwriter and completely himself. Plus, his heart is an amazing thing to encounter. We have been friends for years now and played music together a lot on Thursday nights. He always lets me, be myself and really encourages that. I can tell he likes what I write and I really like what he writes. We are fans of each other," - J Guitar. Konty is also joined on the live track by the soulful Ben Partain on keys and Konty's core band, Carlton Jackson on drums and Frank Gruner on bass. "Carlton and Frank are my brothers in music and sincere friends of mine. I cannot imagine really playing my stuff without those two onstage with me." - J Guitar.
"You know, this project really seemed like my first time writing. I have done so many studio projects at this point, live albums and singles, I just wanted to step back and appreciate what the past was. But, I also wanted to really solidify my foundation. It takes time to find yourself and I was fortunate enough to be able to document my evolving with all the projects I have done, from modern rock, to blues, to classic rock, to a fusion of them all, to contemporary music and now my love, Soul music. Thing is, is that I have always loved Soul music, was just scared to play it. I have been around it since being a young child at church in Texas. Gospel music was very alive growing up and is still today with us. I just didn't think I would ever really stack up enough to do Soul music. It is a sacred sound and filled with so much talent and vision. But, I just said, 'J Guitar it is time to be you.'" I am my own artist, I am my own writer, I am my own person and Love is my catalyst. I am thankful for everyone going on this journey with me spanning 13 years now. Please enjoy this project and I hope you feel as I did writing, at home and at peace," Shalom. - J Guitar.
