The times are bringing many changes for this singer, songwriter and guitarist. Born in the summer of 1982, raised in Texas and then moving all around, change has once again come to his doorstep. Joseph Konty has been a common name amongst fans and friends for 9 years now. However, we would like to introduce you to his new product. This is a culmination of all his work over the years. As the lead producer on all his material and sole songwriter. The work of 6 studio albums, 2 live albums, 6 acclaimed singles and 1 best of collection. His entire career built solely on his original material. All this within a career of 11 short years. Joseph Konty is now going to be known as J. Guitar Konty. An idea brought about by Manager Doug Brown. Both he and Joseph felt it was time to launch his career even further. So they found a way to tie in Konty’s passion for his roots in Soul Music and let the world know who he really is as a singer, songwriter and guitar enthusiast.
The 2011 album “Sweet Soul Music” of which J Guitar Konty produced, wrote, performed and recorded with Konty Enterprises Inc., reached newer markets worldwide and was entered to compete in the 54th Grammy Awards. J Guitar Konty’s goal for the year ahead is a new single before 2011 ends and support it with a music video. On top of this new tour dates throughout the U.S., along with continued support and market reach for the album “Sweet Soul Music.” J Guitar Konty is also preparing material for another full length release in 2012, of which he desires to take the same approach as his 2011 album, playing the guitars, bass, most keys, programming, vocals and percussion himself. He will again record majority of it with Konty Enterprises Inc. and his wife, VP of Photography and Design for K.E.I. will do the designs.
He has been signed with Doug Brown of GOE Entertainment, out of Orlando, FL for a while now. Joseph and Mr. Brown joined up on the last wing of his 08 – 09 tours. “Doug has followed me for a while and always saw the direction and talent in what I had to offer with my songs and voice. I respect him, his many accomplishments, his knowledge and integrity. He has become a good friend to me, along with an amazing manager,” J Guitar Konty. Konty to this day continues his pursuit of music studies focusing heavily on the study of voice, theory and guitar. With this time has come many new songs and the mending of old ones. The focus on his songwriting is the pursuit of love, compassion, hope, peace, community and sexuality.
Musically, instrumentally and vocally Joseph has always be inspired by Gospel music, Soul, R&B and Motown. “I really got turned on to all of it while attending church in Texas and singing in the choir, along with the music my mother & father enjoyed. Plus the new waves of R&B with my older brother’s Montell Jordan cassette. I really dove deep into Soul/ R&B in about 5th and 6th grade. There was a station that played slow jams on Friday and Saturday nights. I would sit for hours and marvel in the sounds coming out of my big stereo my Grandad gave me. I went down other roads musically for a while; due primarily to the culture around me, along with some insecurity I had. Finally, I decided I needed to do the things I loved." Joseph. Joseph’s voice and guitar playing do not come from any particular influence, but primarily the sounds and feelings of what he loved. However, he has always noted his love with guitar and voice, plus songwriting with such artists as Marvin Gaye, Prince, Maxwell, Babyface, Curtis Mayfield, Joe Messina, Eddie Willis, Raphael Saadiq, Smokey Robinson and Johnny “Guitar” Watson. Along with Boyz II Men being one of his favorite groups of all time. “These artists had/have this genius about them, a genius that carries beyond style or sound, but carries a way of life. I never really had any guitar heroes. I tried, but in the end I just enjoyed things that were well put together and produced. I enjoyed diverse sounds and creativity,” Konty.
As we prepare for the new launch of J Guitar Konty we look in thankfulness to the past. Thankful for the many fans and friends over the years. The ones who have shown support and love and continue to do so. We also say hello to the new people who are joining the movement that is J Guitar Konty on a daily basis. In the end that is really what he wants. A movement, a movement of love, peace, hope, community and the chance to have the sexuality that lasts. The Konty Charitable Foundation is still thriving today. Bringing education, attention and resources to many philanthropic groups doing great work for others in our world. Konty has always noted the one reason he desires to expand his career. It is to gain resources and a stage to let the world know we must Love one another and we must take care of each other. We must give what is given to us. So, as we thank the past and welcome the new, we hope you see the heart of the artist. Love, it comes down to love, from all the different angles.
