If you are new to MITCH, you might find yourself asking, "What is MITCH and what is a charter school?" M.I.T.C.H. stands for Multi-sensory Instruction Teaching Children Hands-on, and a charter school is a public school that has chosen a unique curriculum other than what is currently in use by the school district. It is a publicly funded school so the students and their families do not pay tuition. M.I.T.C.H. is a separate 501 (c) 3 nonprofit school approved by the Tigard/Tualatin School Districts. (The 501(c )3 is used to designate a non-religious and non-political school.)
MITCH was founded on a passion for academic excellence. Before settling on an approach, we looked at the top-rated schools academically nationwide to figure out what made them so successful. Determining that schools with an agricultural emphasis were extremely successful, we combined the agricultural focus with the most successful academic curriculum available. We started with a strong "hands on" approach and continue with that model today.

Every day, an average of 51 families are faced with this heartbreaking tragedy. Not only are the parents faced with grief, but often they must make funeral arrangements before they even leave the hospital; those arrangements must be paid within the week. The McKenzie Rose Foundation is here to help.
We assist the Parents in setting up a fundraising campaign that will reach throughout their social network. Everyone wants to help, but they don't know what to do. All too often parents will hear, "If you need anything, let me know." At this point in time the parents are in such a state of shock that they don't know what to do, let alone telling others how they can help. The McKenzie Rose Foundation can help!
Although our main focus is to help those families who have lost an infant to still birth or during pregnancy (Viable pregnancy- 24 weeks gestation); We always do our best to help anyone that has a child pass with no warning. If you know a family that is in need of funding due to a traumatic loss, please call us to arrange for help. Day or night.
Joseph Konty was the music substitute K - 8th at MITCH Charter School. Along with his students he recently helped them arrange, practice, and perform their 2013 Spring Concert in Tualatin, OR. Below is a wonderful comment from one of the families about the concert.
"We would like to congratulate all those involved who were responsible for putting on the BEST spring concert we have seen at MITCH Charter School. We have had a total of 6 grand children participate in these for many years. What made this concert the best, was the teacher's ability to engage the students into making music fun for them. His ability in getting the formerly bored student interested in a genre that perhaps did not peak their interest originally, is what great teaching is all about. The three grandchildren still attending MITCH, have raved about their music classes since Joseph Konty took over the program. We hope that he will be able to continue as music director. It delighted us to see so many children actively engaged in their performance. Kudos to Mr. Konty, and a great big thank you." - MITCH Charter School Family
